“Sarrabulho” Rice The king of local cuisine is “sarrabulho” rice – a typical dish made with simple ingredients, such as a variety of different meats, and rice – normally accompanied by the famous roasted pork and a delicious wine (“vinho verde”). Carefully prepared, it is said that the secret is in the seasoning and whoever tastes it guarantees that these are flavours to remember and to repeat. It is a tourist product of excellence, which attracts thousands of people to the village, especially at the weekend. In 2006 the Ponte de Lima’s “Sarrabulho” Rice brotherhood was created in order to promote and enhance the gastronomic and historical value of this dish. |
