“Vaca das Cordas” One of Ponte de Lima’s most typical traditions, its oldest reference goes back to the 18th century. XVI. Tradition forces the animal - a bull - to go out into the street, driven by 15 people and arrested by two ropes. He is taken to the Parish Church and attached to the iron window of the Tower of the Bells, being given a bath of red wine, "loin down, to retemper forces." After three laps around the church, he is taken to the village riverside sand area, scene of several bullfighting lively adventures. |
