Guimarães (a city of medieval originated from the 10th century), whose Historic Center was classified as Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO is a mandatory reference for all visitors for its history, monumental, artistic and museological wealth, visible throughout the municipality. A growing cultural activity, diversified and contemporaneous, culminated with the 2012 European Capital of Culture, made Guimarães an open space to the world. Stage of the famous Gualterianas, the city’s festivities, animation is always guaranteed during the first weekend of August. A contagious joy and vivacity that is repeated later on when, between November 29th and December 7th, the Nicolinas fill the streets.
