Corno de Bico’s Area of Protected Landscape

Stretched out in an area of 2175 hectares, the Corno de Bico’s Protected Landscape includes part of the parishes of Bico, Castanheira, Cristelo, Parada and Vascões, and also confronts with the municipalities of Arcos de Valdevez and Ponte de Lima. A natural paradise watered by the Labrujo, Coura and Vez rivers and covered by an extensive forest, where oaks and holly abound, amongst other fauna and flora species. Practically untouched by man, proving it are the several villages and places harmoniously integrated into the landscape, alongside historical traces such as five thousand year old dolmens or burial monuments. Joining the many archaeological discoveries, is the religious and profane patrimony that must also be visited, as well as the Educational and Environmental Interpretation Centre, in Chã de Lamas, whose main purpose is environmental education and the interpretation of the main biophysical, socio-cultural and landscape aspects that make up the Corno de Bico’s Area of Protected Landscape. We suggest you discover this natural spot with the help of the different and well signalled pedestrian trails that exist in this region.
