Nossa Senhora do Alívio Sanctuary The construction of the Nossa Senhora do Alívio Sanctuary (“Our Lady of Relief”) began at the end of the 18th century, under the command of Father Francisco Fragoas, and continued with various works of expansion, a consequence of the cult’s growth until the 20th century, arriving at this imposing Marian temple. Important place of pilgrimage, the Shrine features reminiscences of the gothic style in various parts of its building. In the Casa das Promessas (“House of Promises”), you can find several curious objects that the devotees leave to Our Lady. |
