The Village

Meeting point for the local people, the República Square is the heart of the village. With the City Hall building in the background, there are several shops and terraces of the restaurants and bars that surround the square creating vibrant atmospheres for those who visit it. The urban furniture sheltered by many secular trees make this the perfect space to chat along, walk, run and where children can have fun in the playground. A stage of the most diverse initiatives, here the Monthly Crafts Fair is held on the 1st and 2nd Sunday of each month; the Antiques Fair, on the 3rd Sunday of each month; the Second-Hand Fair on the 4th Sunday of each month and the "Craft and Honey" Christmas Fair in December. In addition to the beauty of its gardens, it is also a must visit to the Interactive Tourism Store, to the “Aliança Artesanal” – Centre for Artistic Dynamization and “Namorar Portugal” Space, the Municipal Library, the House of Knowledge, the Arts and Culture Centre of Vila Verde and to the different monuments that embellish this village.
