Gastronomy and Festivals

A privileged gastronomic destination, a land of flavors and unique knowledge, where the lamprey and the kid are kings at the table, in Valença the magnificent cod is tasted like nowhere else. The tradition and know how to handle this product make it the capital of cod in the Iberian Peninsula, with its cod to São Teotónio and Contrasta style. And a bit throughout the municipality, the gastronomic festivals live up to this tradition of eating well: "Sabores da Lampreia", in March, in S. Pedro da Torre, where the lamprey is prepared in many ways; "Sabores da Aldeia", in May at the city, is a trip for the most genuine flavors of the municipality; "Sabores Serranos", in S. Julião in May, an invitation to taste the best of the mountain villages gastronomy and "Sabores do Anho" in September in Gondomil, where the roasted meat, presented with the famous baked rice is a delicacy of the gods.
