Faith Routes

Popular ever since the Middle Ages, the “Caminho de Santiago” was recognized by the Council of Europe as the "First European Cultural Itinerary" in 1987, because it was filled with heritage landmarks.

The Portuguese Path, a compendium of art and culture shared between the Minho and Galicia, is among the most popular and is one of the seven routes that are part of the Road to Santiago. In Minho, we can point to three main routes: the Medieval Path, the Coastline Path and the Central Path.

Be due to the religious spirit, the cultural aspect or even for adventure and physical activity, year after year, pilgrims from Santiago continue to walk these routes and live closely with the traditions of a region that has become accustomed to the yellow arrows, the shells, the gourds and the staffs, symbols of the “Caminho de Santiago”.

Find your way, with Minho at your feet…
