São Lourenço Mountain For an unforgettable view over the mouth of the Cávado River, until the sea, Esposende and Ofir, climb the S. Lourenço Mountain where other riches can also be found. Here rests an old fortification where the structures of an ancient civilization are reborn and where every year the patron saint of Vila Chã is celebrated. Built on the top, surrounded by sky and with the sea at its feet, the S. Lourenço Chapel has been standing since 1549. This archaeological site has now a new motive of interest, the Interpretative Centre of the Castro of S. Lourenço (an Iron Age hill fort), which pays even more tribute to the patrimonial and landscape heritage of this place, by explaining the space and the entire archaeological area of the municipality. |
