Manor Houses

In Celorico de Basto, manor houses are part of a valuable patrimonial inheritance. Dispersed all around the municipality, there is a larger group of noble houses by the Tâmega riverside, most of which were built or rebuilt between the mid-17th century and the early 19th century. Presenting various configurations and beautiful architectonic lines, the elegance of their interiors is equally notable, as are the granaries, the threshing floors, the porches, the chapels and the splendid gardens that complete these exclusive properties. Although many of Celorico’s manor houses are private and still in the hands of their original families, others were successfully transformed into cosy Tourism Houses.
