Apúlia’s Seaweed Gatherers A communion between work on land and in the sea, the gathering of seaweed –a compound of marine algae that once dry is used as a fertilizer and in the cosmetics industry – is today one of the region’s most valuable traditional and cultural heritages. Its ethnographical and folkloric characteristics recall past times when, while waiting for the seaweed to wash up on the coast, the people would sing and dance by the seashore. |
