Dating back to the 14th century, the “Corpo de Deus” procession is known for its battles of Good against Evil and are tied to the Saint George legend, a man who killed, with his sword, a dragon that wanted to devour the King of Libia’s daughter. Impressed by the saint’s courage, the princess converted to christianism. Following the tradition, the “Coca” symbolizes the dragon and, on the morning of the procession, strolls through the streets, closely followed by Saint George, until the Campo do Souto, where the famous battle occurs. Everyone is anxious for the outcome – who will win, Good or Evil?
